    You are legally required to perform a façade inspection every 5 years in accordance with Quebec’s Safety Code (Bill 122) and submit a compliance report to the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ).

    Regulatory Requirements (RBQ – Bill 122)

    Since March 18, 2013, building owners must obtain a detailed façade inspection report, prepared and signed by a professional engineer or architect, confirming that the façade does not present a safety risk. Inspection frequency: - Every 5 years for buildings of 5 storeys or more Applicable timelines based on building age:
    • Buildings over 45 years: inspection required (initial deadline March 2015)
    • 25 to 45 years: inspection required (initial deadline March 2016)
    • 15 to 25 years: inspection required (initial deadline March 2017)
    • 10 to 15 years: inspection required (initial deadline March 2018)
    • Buildings constructed after 2004: inspection required before the 10th anniversary, then every 5 years
